:UPDATE::
ROCKDALE COUNTY – On February 26, 2025, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) identified and charged a 15-year-old suspect responsible for social media posts that threatened the safety of a local high school on February 23, 2025.
The juvenile was charged and taken into custody for the following:
– Terroristic Threats x2 (Felony)
– Disruption of School (Misdemeanor)
The RCSO would like to emphasize the importance of not reposting threatening social media posts but instead reporting the post to local law enforcement.
Parents and guardians, please talk with your children about the seriousness of making threats. Every threat made, whether on social media, in text messages, letters, or verbally, will be taken seriously.
If your child is found responsible for making any threats, they will face criminal charges and potential arrest. This not only leads to serious consequences for your child but also causes significant disruption to daily routines. Parents can also be held accountable under Georgia Code § 51-2-3 for the actions of their child.
The RCSO will continue to work closely with the Rockdale County Public School System to ensure a safe environment for students and staff.
